Description
This was a homework assignment for class that I finished just in time for my recent show. It is a copy of Mariano Fortuny's drawing called "Luchador" originally drawn in 1860.
It was drawn with Carbon pencil on watercolor paper. If you've never used carbon pencil before I highly recommend trying it out. It makes up for all the faults of charcoal, only sacrificing charcoal's forgiving qualities, meaning you don't get to erase and redraw until it's perfect so you have to do it right the first time.

It's lovely: the tilt of the hip, the tension in the right arm, the bend of the spine.... it's all so compelling that I feel myself trying to sit up straighter while gazing upon this wonderful drawing
